Jon Davis
The Client
Jon Davis is a seasoned leadership consultant with deep roots in education, team development, and organizational strategy. When he connected with us in the spring of 2024, he was at a crossroads—unsure whether to pursue full-time employment, pivot into something new, or return to consulting after a pause.
He came to us looking for guidance and strategy. What he got was something even more powerful: a renewed sense of direction and purpose.
The Engagement & Our Impact
From start to finish, Jon appreciated how thorough and thoughtful our coaching was. He wasn’t just looking for someone to help him polish a resume—he needed a partner who could ask the right questions, challenge his assumptions, and help him see the full picture.
As we worked through his career history and aspirations, one of them kept resurfacing: he had already built something meaningful.
“My coach kept saying, ‘You really had a good thing going…are you sure you shouldn’t just go back to that, but in a different way?’”
That idea stuck.
By the summer, Jon had started exploring what it might look like to relaunch his consulting practice. While reaching out to clients for testimonials, one replied with a different kind of offer: “I’ll give you a testimonial—but I also need help with team development. Are you interested?”
He said yes—and that one conversation led to an 8-month contract. From there, momentum built quickly. He took on a new engagement with a public school system, refined his service offerings, and fully leaned back into the business he had previously paused.
Within the year, Jon says he had one of his most successful and focused years ever in business.
The Takeaway
Jon credits us as the catalyst for his pivot.
“My coach was one of the first people to say, ‘you are a natural relationship and business developer, and you have an incredible network of people who think you’re great and want to help you. How about you stay the course in that, and find complementary consultants to do the work you don’t want to do?’”
What stood out to Jon the most was our holistic, open-minded approach.
“Carrington Talent Group is willing to look at all options. They’re not just trying to get you the next job. They’re searching for what your true strengths and your values are and gently challenge you in directions you might not be thinking about.”
And sometimes, the next step isn’t a leap into something brand new. It’s doubling down on what you are best at and what brings you the most energy —this time, with greater clarity, confidence, and support.
